Clouds drifting, promising moisture, but not delivering. Only beauty.

While much of the country deals with extreme cold and snow we here in the southwest have to deal with extreme drought. Not a drop of rain since late summer, single digit humidity. Desperate times in the desert. Dust everywhere, choked vegetation and desperate wild animals in the mountains.
Clouds drifting, promising moisture, but not delivering. Only beauty.

We took the train to Santa Fe on Friday to visit Site Santa Fe https://sitesantafe.org/
and Tai Modern Gallery http://www.taimodern.com/
Tai Modern has Japanese baskets that are so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes.
Currently, I've been working on a project sewing paper. Not sure where this will take me but I find sewing a meditative, serene activity...

11.11.17 art event at the ACOG
For 30 years I've been making art and have a studio full of materials and equipment. As the years passed I used a wide variety of materials from clay to wood, steel, copper, paper, drawing and more. Two years ago I decided to complete a body of work using only the materials available, no new purchases.
The result was 18 wooden boxes, each unique. For the art party from 5-6 PM the 'gallery' was open with the boxes displayed with their doors closed. From 6-615 PM Bev Magennis read from her most recent novel Equity. During her reading I opened all the boxes for viewing.
I sell the boxes for $250, priced to sell! and still have 7.

Since 2009 I have offered my studio gallery/zendo to artists/writers to present their work to friends and community. The show is only up for one evening, typically 2 hours.
The space is called the Anne Cooper Occasional Gallery (aka ACOG). http://annecooperstudio.com/ACOG.html
This year (2017) we have had 3 exhibits and are planning a fourth in October.

Terri Lindbloom, art faculty at FSU in Tallahassee Florida, set up an installation consisting of a 10' diameter steel ring, lit wax taper and hypnotic video loop of a woman spinning to a surreal sound track. The mesmerizing installation is called Every Breathe a Prayer. Terri's website: http://www.unfold.space/
